This morning we were up early in Lake Havasu City, and after complimentary breakfast at the hotel we checked out and headed to the airport. Fortunately we managed to make it there without incident (and by incident we mean being shot by machine guns with silencers) and we set about planning the next leg of our journey. While we were hoping to cross to the west of the mountains running along the border of California, there was/is a large weather sytem preventing us from doing so. We instead planned for an airport called Apple Valley. Once there we would grab a rental car and drive about two hours to LA and six flags.
The flight was smooth and uneventful, and despite 30 knot winds on approach we calmly, coolly, and collectedly greased the landings and strutted to the FBO for a large and hearty breakfast/lunch. We made sure to sign the guest book before hitting the highways for an incredibly scenic drive through the mountains. Once in LA we headed for the "fashion district". For those of you who haven't heard of it don't feel bad. We only found out about it from our cab driver in the grand canyon. Covering roughly 90 city blocks, the fashion district is basically a large market where you can purchase designer goods for incredibly cheap. Much to our dismay it was largely directed at women, and having never been to the area before, we did not know which direction to head in. However, we did wander around for a couple hours before heading back to the rental vehicle. I should mention it was parked in an extremely crowded lot, the salespeople and workers in the area were primarily Spanish and they knew how to maximize space and profits!
We left the district and headed towards Santa Clarita, hoping to find a hotel nearer to Six Flags, where we planned to go for the day tomorrow. After eating supper at McDonald's (yes...again) we found a hotel and settled in, only to learn from the pamphlets that Six Flags is closed tomorrow! Yet another wrench in our grand scheme. Instead of six flags we are going to venture to Knotts Berry Farm in Anaheim, about an hour South of our hotel. That theme park WILL be open so hopefully it won't disappoint. At the hotel we once again hot tubbed late into the night before retreating to the comfort and security of a smoke free room amidst a smoke-filled hallway. Tomorrow we will once again hit the city, hopefully this time things will go as planned!
